Why should I use eLearning?

eLearning is one type of learning you can use as part of your overall Learning and Development strategy. eLearning or electronic learning is a form of learning that is taken online using a laptop, smartphone or tablet. eLearning can be a cost effective and efficient way to deliver training to your learners and is something you should consider.

Below are some of the reasons why you should consider using eLearning.

1. Flexibility

Flexibility is very important for todays learners, now more than ever learners are needing to take training in a time and place that suits them. eLearning helps to accommodate this, with eLearning the training is hosted online and learners access it using an electronic device such as a smartphone, laptop or tablet. This means it is possible for learners to access training regardless of their location, this is a huge advantage when compared to traditional classroom training which require learners to be at a certain place and at a certain time.

2. Consistency

Another major advantage of using eLearning is the consistency it provides. When delivering classroom training the effectiveness of the training can vary, for example when an instructor leads a classroom session the session might be slightly different each time, the pacing might be different and the topics might be covered in more or less detail. With eLearning every learner gets the same experience, they receive the same amount of information and learn the exact same content, this is beneficial when analysing how effective your training is.

3. Scalability

Scalability is another major benefit of eLearning due to its use of technology. For example, for classroom training you have limitations, you might be restricted due to the size of the room, you might be restricted due to learners availability or you might be restricted due to not being able to find an instructor. eLearning however is hosted online so this means the number of people taking the training can be scaled quickly. When scaling consider if your current systems can handle the increase in traffic and if any upgrades are needed.
